Register for Interpreting Construction Documents
A one day class taken in two half day segments.
Construction Documents are the basic means of communication in the construction industry. The key to success in our industry is a combination of project comprehension and execution. The first aspect of this process is properly interpreting construction documents, understanding the basic framework of a full set of documents and knowing where or how to find the information. The second aspect of this process involves an understanding of the project execution requirements from the bid process through to substantial performance of the work.
The full day seminar will include review and discussion on both aspects of the process; their importance, priority, details, information and influence on the construction industry.
This combination of project documentation and execution within this seminar will provide the basics needed to effectively use construction documents to the benefit of operations and the projects as a whole. Attendance for the entire seminar is required to receive recognition for completion.
The first session of the seminar will introduce the process of construction document preparation, interpretation and resolution. This session will provide a clear understanding of the requirements and information found in construction documents for use in bidding and field purposes. The session will explain where to typically find required information and how to interpret the documents towards the installation and performance of the item.
The second session of the seminar will provide an understanding of construction protocol from the point of Bid Award to completion of construction, including the importance and relevance of issued documentation including field memos, price change requests, progress certificates and application for substantial performance. This part will also review the possible impact that changes may have on the overall building performance.
